Actually there I went and am now in Illinois! Last night I went to Kaufman Stadium to see the Kansas City Royals host the Cleveland Indians!
Joining me for this game was my former colleague Nancy Thoma, she was also a Regional Administrator for ACF who retired recently and we both are sad about the state of things but also relieved to have survived it!
The ballpark has a family feel with several attractions for kids to enjoy, like mini-golf and a small ball field for the kids to play on.
There is a Hall of Fame focused on the Royals history, there is a Negro League Baseball Museum in Kansas City but unfortunately it was closed on Monday so I will have to make another trip to see it.
Our seats were in the “Diamond Club” which has lots of advantages, we were behind home plate, had seat service for food and drinks and closer restrooms!
While the Royals started out with a homer in their first inning, the Indians caught and then clobbered them with a score of 9 – 3!
If you are going to visit KC for a ballgame I highly recommend Drury Inn it’s right across the highway from the ballpark and they provide drinks and food free from 5:30-7:00.
Cathy, I am in awe of your dedication to see all of the ballparks this season!! Was so swell to share this little piece of your adventure with you in my town, Crown Town KC, City of Fountains and proud home of the Royals! Safe travels my friend, and I hope I can catch up with you again very soon. Safe travels and go Cubs!
