As a child I recall having a loving family but having neighbors where domestic violence was the norm.
I could hear the yelling, see the kids scared but no one intervened. After losing my father early in life I followed a path that took me first to the Navy, then to the University of Hawaii to study Social Work and ultimately working as a social worker for over 25 years for the Navy. I spent much of my professional career involved in the intervention of domestic violence and child abuse prevention. I retired last May and want to pursue some of my passions such as the ultimate baseball road trip, but I also want to reach and teach about the importance of children feeling “Safe at Home”!
